Froakie, looks really cool too

In past gens, most of the fire type pokemon had lower stats then the others, like with the starter water types, in the first gen, they introduced Blastoise, which is hands down one of the best water type pokemon, while Charizard was for most people, the best fire type pokemon, because of their speed, attack, defense, special attack, special defense, and hp stats

As for the grass starter type pokemon, Venasaur was okay, but for most people, they choose Treeko over Bulbasaur, mainly because of it's evolve form Sceptile

Blaziken is another starter fire type pokemon that most people love

It really depends on how the pokemon was introduced.
